1. POTSTILL BRANDY - 100 % pot still
To be classified as pot still brandy 100% of the final blend must have been distilled in a copper pot still and aged for a minimum of three years in wooden barrels, without the addition of wine spirits. Pot still brandy is the fullest and richest of all three styles of brandy; mostly due to the concentrated aromas and tastes from the pot still.
2. BLENDED BRANDY- 30% pot still, 70% wine spirits (unmatured)
This blend combines both pot still and column still distillation. The final blend must contain at least 30% pot still that has been matured for at least three years and can contain up to 70% unmatured wine spirit. Blended brandies are very vibrant and flavourful, well suited for traditional mixed tall drinks.
3. VINTAGE BRANDY- 30% pot still, 70% wine spirits (matured)
This type of brandy must contain at least 30% pot still brandy that has been matured for at least 8 years and can contain up to 70% wine spirit that has been matured for the same length of time as the pot still.
